How dumb am I? Turbo Question.

OK, go easy on me if this is a completely stupid idea. Has anyone put a turbo on a 7.3 from a 6.4? Why would/wouldn't it work, and would it be better? I was thinking about this because from what I understand the 6.4 is a variable geometry turbo, which boosts at lower RPM?

My truck surges pretty good when you get on it and I was wondering what I could do, above getting the WW/van turbo and squeeze more HP out of the motor by just going to the salvage yard.

Go easy!

Wouldn't be worth the hassle. By the time you mock everything up and get everything working, you could have already built a properly sized compound setup for the larger displacement of the 7.3 and not having to deal with the VGT crap.

similar question: could I swap the wheel from a 03 6.0 in an 06 6.0 to achieve that famous whistle?

A lot easier job would be to buy a 03 turbo and swap it. Or better yet, just buy a new Powermax setup from Garrett.
