1999 Ford F250 ABS light on, Speedo Not Moving, Overdrive Light Flashes.

For the last 4 days in the morning my 1999 F250 7.3 liter 4x4 diesel has started with a solid ABS light. If you try to drive, the speedo doesn't work and the overdrive light starts flashing. In reading extensively on the forums, I started with the rear differential VSS sensor. I pulled it out and cleaned it put it back in. Still the problem persists only in the morning. In the afternoon the ABS light has yet to come on. I was curious if this could possibly be the output sensor on top/back of the tranny. I have yet to come across an issue where its occurring in the morning. Any thoughts? I might just go buy the VSS sensor for the rear and check that.

Hopefully it's not your speed sensor ring, mine was doing that, I replaced the Vss and it still didn't fix it pulled the diff cover and somehow the speed sensor ring was gent! Also when you pull the Vss out they have a bad habit of coming apart so lime the other said just replace it it's only like 20 bucks at ford

I also have a 99 f250 super duty and my abs light is on, my speedometer is dead and my transmission is shifting hard and staying in each gear longer then usual. I replaced my abs speed sensor and still have the same problem. I have checked the wire leading to the sensor from the union at the frame. Anyone have any answers.

on my 2001 the ABS light came on, I had some brake fluid leaking around the resovoir, figured it was low on fluid. That day at lunch time, I fired up the truck to go fetch some viddles and smelled wired burning. As I stopped in the parking lot to make a turn, I saw light smoke emitting from under the hood.

With my cat like reflexes and a breath much like of Superman, I opened the hood, jumped up on the drivers side front tire and blew out a fire with flames about a foot high.

The resovoir mounted brake sensor had badly frayed wires that shorted out and caught friggin' fire.....

BTW- my speedo had stopped working as well. I cut the wires to the sensor and taped them up until I could get a new one wired in, speedo has been working ever since......but the my friggin' up pipe started leaking, no boost, high egts. my truck iz possessed... needs an exorcisiom

I was driving and my tranny down shifted my ABS light came on and my speedometer went to 0. I changed the ABS VSS and that didn't fix any of my problems. What can I try now?
