are Window Regulators a DIY deal???

I'm looking at a 2001 Excursion and the seller says both front windows are getting slow to go up or down. If that's the regulators, what's involved in changing them out?

special tools or special knowledge of how to get the door panels off?

What do they cost and who on here sells them?

I also am looking for a front bumper (the chrome part) but that's another thread, unless you have one available.

Around $110 a piece at the stealership. Simple to install. Panels are simple to remove also, pull the black plastic cover at the top from where the mirrors are (Just pull towards you), pull the window switch plastic up, pull the reflector/light toward the bottom of the door. There is a screw behind the reflector. Lift panel straight up, twist light out of socket that was behind reflector. Pull the plastic water shield from the door. Either have someone help hold the window up, or use some strong tape. There are 5 (I think) 10mm bolts that hold the motor/regulator. There may be a screw that I didn't mention, but it's not too difficult of a job to do

I got 2 new ones from powerstrokeshop.com. Had to do the passenger side front door and rear door. When I got them the receipt was actually from a company called Wabash Work Truck Center out of Indiana. They were $41.19 each and after shipping was $97.38 total. Install was easy and they work great. There is also a mod you can do to your existing actuator called the foil mod that will make them work again.

Before you spend a bunch of money on parts, try silglyde which is a light grease. I got it from NAPA and put it in the rubber/felt window tracks. Works great
