something electrical

hey guys i have a '02 f250 that has a problem hopefully someone can help me with. When im driving the truck the headlights will get brighter as if there is a surge, then go back to normal. While this is happening the battery light in the gauge cluster will come on...not sure what is going on.

They get very bright, THEN the light on the dash comes on?

Maybe the voltage is going too high (like a bad regulator...) I'd have a volt meter on the seat, connected to the lighter socket, to know what's happening with the whole system as you're driving around.

You should be able to get a free check at a parts store--they have the equipment to hook up and tell you f it is your voltage regulator--which is what is sounds like to me.

the battery light will go on and off at random times. As well as the lights will get brighter and dim at random times, but they dont do it at the same time...i'll take it to a parts store and have them hook it up...
