Fair deal?
I'm looking at a 1999 F-350 Supercrew SRW, 4x4, Lariat. it has 258,000 on the clock and they are asking $11,900 for it. I haven't seen it in person as it is 700 miles away. All the pictures look good, reall good. Clean, straight body, interior is nice.
Is this a fair deal for this truck? I have seen them more expensive and I have seen them cheaper. I really like the color, it is the only one I've found (copper). I know it will come down to a test drive, but before I take the time and money to drive or fly up there, I need to make sure the price is even worth it. What do I need to be looking for as far as mechanical? Anything pertinent to the later 7.3 Powerstrokes? Transmission problems etc? Thanks |

I got my 99 f250 crew 4x4 with 195k for 8500. It would fall in the good by nada. I learned by looking at 3 others that you cant judge a truck by internet pictures. I drove from Richmond to Charlotte (10 hours to and back) to look at what looked very nice to find out it was a piece of crap. I think 700miles is too far to be let down. If you hunt hard enough you can find a better deal I think. Check out the what to look for when buying a used powerstroke on youtube by powerstroke help. His tips helped me alot.

If you end up looking at it personally look at this for some guidance

Thats way too much money for that truck. Look around you'll find a way better deal alot closer to home. Look at NADA or Edmunds for prices on used trucks, I personally wouldn't use Kelly Bluebook they favor the dealers prices.

That truck is like $3-4000 over priced.

Sounds a bit on the high side. With trucks, they are like frogs. You gotta kiss a lot of them before you find a prince/princess (whatever your preference might happen to be). |

So for a similar truck we are talking about under $9k being a fair price? That is good for me, but it seems to me that sellers think their sh*t is worth a lot more than it really is!

It was hard to find a 7.3 for me because in Richmond, there are none to find and the few that are are priced really high because the 7.3 is selling better than the 6.0s. The contractor crowd are buying up the 7.3s and running them forever. I can't blame them. I did the same. If you look on craigslist, you can find a deal.
