You really don't need to take anything off at all (I didn't). But what I did do was just unplug my factory harness instead of cutting it. I then made a post asking if anyone would sell me their factory pigtail connector and one of the guys on FTE went right outside, cut his off, and mailed it to me THAT DAY. I have this thing about hacking into factory wiring.... anyway, IMO it is a much better solution to leave the factory connector alone and make your own harness. Mine gets power from the factory 10amp auxilliary fuse (ign switched) in the panel behind the dash, runs to switch on the shift knob, then goes out to the brake along with a common ground for both the switch and the EBPV noid. I really should've taken pics. Took my like 3 - 4 hours, but i was being super anal and taking my time.
