front axle ?

Hey guys ive learnd alot of stuff on here so far but cant find one thing im looking for I cant answer my self. I have a 99 f350 4x4 single wheel truck and the front end was wore out so I just replaced it with a low mi one out of a 01 f350 dually. My problem is the distance from the front cover and the drive shaft is like 2'' longer than the front end I took out so I had to shortan my drive shaft. Why is this I thought all the dana 60 were the same in these trucks?

Dually is different. Even warn and other gear vendors list different part numbers for the srw vs. drw.

SRW info

99-early 02 is a d50
02-05 is a d60 with 35\30 spline
05+ is a d60 with 35spline inner and outer

Cool for some reson I thought the dana 50s were only in the obs trucks. I plan on rebuilding this axle and puting it in my 97 2wd the end of the year.
