Straight Pipe

2001 7.3 w 205K
About a month ago i pulled apart the exhaust coupler right before the muffler and ran for a few days like that. It was way louder than i anticipated so i got a straight through style muffler with dimples on the inside. It got it pretty dang quiet and now i am wondering how it would sound if i took the muffler back out, installed a 3.5" pipe in its place and let it exit out of the rear instead of under the cab like before?

I have heard some audio clips but its hard to tell just how loud it really is.

thoughts?

straight pipe exhaust will be louder than stock but not as loud as just taking your muffler off. I have a staight pipe exiting in front of my rear tire and it's loud but not to loud when I'm just driving normally.
