Weird hum in front end

Last week I developed a hum (not a constant hum, but more pulsing) in what seemed to be my driver side wheel. ( I could hear and feel it in my feet) So thinking it was the wheel bearing going out I replace the whole Hub ASSY. Got everything buttoned up and the hum is still there. After replacing the Hub Assy I noticed I could wiggle and deflect the axle U-joint 1/8”. Shouldn’t this not move with a new Hub ASSY.

My question to everyone here is what should the dimension be on the axle stub shaft that the needle bearing rides on? The axle shaft wasn’t worn or grooved, it was nice and smooth. Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm not 100% on this come but I'm sure someone else could chime in, perhaps a knuckle seals as well? If you have machine tools, check the ID of the bearing, then the OD of the axle shaft and see what your differences are. Generally speaking (from a machinist pov) the clearance should be fairly tight, I would not accept anything more than 0.010"
