OK, I got it. I thought thats what they meant by sender, but wasn't sure. That explination helps a lot, thanks.

What does everybody else have?
Is one better(more accurate) than the other?
If I go with the electric one, I will just go in the MAP sensor, but with the mechanical one, where is the best place to get the boost reading from?

Thanks for all the help
chris

Thanks for all the replies so far guys - I appreciate it.
Is there any way to move this thread though, to get more feedback/input?
Maybe to the 7.3 General Discussion?

Thanks,
chris

Hello im not one of those guys who will get on to you for not searching before you ask a question, but in this case if you do a search for installing gages of something close to that you should get all you need to know.As for the gages I would use are always mechanical. That way you take out the error from a sendor going bad or something like that. The way I look at it is If you want electrical gages just use the ones that come in the truck because thats what they are lol.Otherwise you would still need boost and egt and trans temp I know.Good luck and if you dont find what you need feel free to start another thread and we will be glad to walk you through it.Good luck.

Hey mustangz,
Thanks for the reply. I did do a couple of searches on this and other sites, but couldn't find the answer to my origional question. That has since been answered, now I'm just looking for opinions or preferences. I think I'm going to go with the mechanical gauges though.
One thing I still don't know is the best place to get the boost reading from a Mechanical gauge?
Installation shouldn't be a problem for me, But if it is, It's good to know you guys are all here, willing to help. These sites are invaluable to diy's like me!!

Thanks again
chris

Well dont hold me to this and some others might say diff but I would "t" into the map sensor line.Im not as sure where it is on the later model trucks but should be on the firewall somewhere on the pass side of the truck. That is where the ecm reads boost so I think that would be the best place.
