i wouldnt use a programmer on it.. i would put a custom tuned chip... there are many he can choose from like TW,DP, PHP.. then some gauges....

if he wants a package deal on a TW chip with gauges let me know and ill hook him up

why do you suggest not to use a programmer? If you get a sct x3 with custom tunes for your truck it is the same as getting a chip. Only difference if you will not have the ability to change the tune on the fly, so it really depends on what you want. Either are great with CUSTOM tunes.

one of the best advantages to having a 7.3L is that you can shift on the fly... plus not a whole lot of tuners will make tunes for a programmer... Tony can put tunes on a SCT but if you were able to shift on the fly why wouldnt you?

x2 on custom tunes...

1. usually free re-program
2. switch on the fly
3. canned tunes wont take into account upgrades.

sct isnt bad, just listing reasons to avoide edge, superchips, etc.

I ran a bully dog on my 99 (early build) auto, and tell him this at least, since bully dog is so praised, don't. Simply don't, they're not worth it, like others said, go with a custom tune, PHP has good prices, and I believe that's who I'm going to order with, actually in the morning. And at the least a pyrometer, I would also get a trans temp gauge if it's auto especially with towing, and a boost gauge is a nice commodity.
