need more 4wd help??
I had posted a while back asking about transfer cases and front diffs. I have a bad, wrather violent front end, if i put the truck in 4wd. Like the wheels are square or the driveshaft is totally twisted. Thats the best i can describe it. I just took the transfer case out and took it in half to inspect. I replaced the output bearing and the needle bearings on the 4wd side. I also put in a chain that i know is good. The truck is fine in 2wd. No clunking etc. The main section of the transfer case is good(2wd part). I really thought i was going to find something when i took the tc apart. At first i thought front differential was bad but got to talking with people on here, and was thinking front bearing in the tc was bad. 4wd hi and low feel the same shaking. I am not driving in directions or turning feeling the usual 4wd bind. This is just 15 mph going straight. I am trying to get the 4wd to work before winter. The tc is simple, once it shifts to 4wd it slides the collar over 2 gears locking the shaft, therefore turning the chain. Real basic. I really am convinced, its not here in the tc. I guess, I have to start digging into the front diff. Not sure what else to look for? any ideas?
