03 7.3 trans safety switch can i bypass?

My 03 7.3 has the safety switch that when you stomp on the pedal it kills the throttle so that it wont hurt the trans. I i about got hit cuse i forgot about it, what stupid @$$ idea that it. Is the only way to get rid of it through a tuner or can i do something myself. thanks vince

hmmmmmmmmm. if anything, a chip/programmer/CUSTOM TUNES will get rid of that for you, while still being safe.

Yes and your truck might even do it as well, i know that the 6.0s do it. i was trying to catch up to my friend and i smashed the pedal hard to the floor and then lost throttle response for about 2 seconds then it returned and the trans light came on during that time. to verify i did it again and everytime afterwards. its a safety so that you do not hurt the trans, i know someoe with a 6.0 that it does the same thing. my 7.3 is an 03 and has the wiring of 03-07 even my fuse box differes from that of a 99-02 7.3. im sure when i get my dp tuner that will bypass all that.

Yea that's not normal. If the OD light comes on during that you got a problem.

+1, my 03 with a 7.3 and an auto doesnt do it on stock tuning. My brother in law has an 05 6.0 that doesn't do that on stock tuning. I think you have other problems. I dont know what they might be... but...

TRANS SAFTEY SWITCH

WELL IT SEEMS THAT IT WAS PROGRAMMED THAT WAY IT DOES IT EVERY TIME. I WOULDNT DOUBT THAT IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY THAT WAY.I HIT THE PEDAL HARD, U ACTUALLY HAVE TO APPLY SOME GOOD FORCE TO IT NOT JUST PUSH.I MEAN SMASH THE HELL OUT OF IT HAHA. IM NOT SAYING THAT IT DOESNT WORK FOR U I JUST SEEMS TO BE NORMAL ITS NOT INTERMITTENT OR ANYTHING.
