Front End whine

Hi all,
New guy here, I have a 2003 crew cab 4x4 7.3, gives me a whine at 10mph-40mph and that is the only time I hear it. When parked running up and down the RPM's no whine at all just when it is driving. Any help is appreciated, Thanks dom

Are you sure it's the motor? You mean like a pump whine or something?

Pulled off the wheels found the outer axle seals hangging on the axle shafts, has anyone ever had this problem and was resolved by replacing the seals? I found the explorer 4x4's having a technical service bulitien for the same issue of a whine at 10-40Mph and the culprit being the axle seals outer.

If it's hanging on the inner axle then you mean the inner seal? It's probably just the rubber edge part that broke off from the metal part of the seal. It shouldn't affect anything unless the wheel bearing itself has issues.
