1999 f250 diesel 4x4 grinding

i have a 99 f250 diesel 4x4 that has a grinding noise at idle and only idle took inspection cover off noise got louder when
have suspicion it is the torque converter please leave input looking to see if cheaper repair than drop the tranny

Its either drop the tranny or pull the engine. Tranny is easier trust me. But when the converter blows it could send metal shavings into the rest of the trans trashing it all.
