Anyone seen this before
I was heading home from buying me a new emblem at the ford dealership yesterday when my truck broke down on the side of the interstate. Turned out my belt tensioner broke completely off the motor and in process the belt shredded and ripped two power steering lines in half. The center bolt that holds the tensioner was still in place was still in place and tight. Looks like it just broke off around it. Luckily it fell off and bounced to the shoulder and not behind me into a car. Anywho after a couple hours I finally got it fixed. Went good for me since I have two trucks so I just drove my bronco to fix it. BTW its tough working on a vehicle on the side of the interstate. Just figured I share a crazy story with you guys.

Oh Yeah the night before we were to leave for the fair last summer , Stock trailer was packed and ready to go , all we had to do was load the steers . Went down to the shop to air up the tires and bang everything stops . So 7 am the next morning send the wife to town (5o miles) to get a new tensioner , Hopeing all goes well and we make it on time . Got the parts 20 min we're smoken . No sqeek or nuth'n just bang dead.

This is a common enough problem. Usually a bearing goes on them, but I have seen a few snapped off. Glad you got it fixed.

ive straight up just have my entire power steering pully come off while goin down the road....right before it came off i made a u-turn to go into a parking lot when i made the turn the wheel was a little loose didnt think anything of it...accelerated pretty good to get to the exit cause cars were coming. got into the turning lane started to hit brakes and the brake pedal was like shaking under my foot...so i let off and hit again harder and it stopped got into the parking fine steering wheel was still loose. i finally pulled into like 3 spots cause it was hardly turning hit the brakes one more time to put it in park and i heard a bang like something just dropped outta the truck...turned it off and found the power steering pully under the truck and the belt just hangin there nothing else broke or anything....some one explain that to me.

happened to my other truck as wife was pulling out of the driveway. She comes inside and says "your truck does not want to turn". I go outside and there is the tensioner on the ground. Luckily she shut it off because she said it was a loud boom.
