white smoke at startup/guage reading rich

Well i went to look at a 99 crew cab powerstroke today and absolutely loved everything about it, it ran perfect and looked great and a good price. Only problem was on cold startup for the first couple minutes it put out quite a bit of smoke that smelt like unburnt fuel, also the aftermarket guage in the cab was reading all the way to the rich side on air/fuel ratio. Truck is straight piped and has a chip of some sort is this whats causing the smoke and should i be concerned?

how many miles and next time take the oil fill cap off with truck running to see how much blow by you have coming out.

its got 130k and i did take off the oil fill plug it had no blow by maybe a slight amount of steam is all thats why it didnt worry me to much

It the price is right sounds like a good truck then. Might have bad gps or gp relay for white smoke reason. But a 99 with only 130k would be nice.

ya i really love the truck the price is right, and since it only has 130k and only did it when cold i figured it wasnt a big deal i need to find out what kind of chip is in it that could be making it rich

also im pretty sure its an early 99, however it has a few things done to it and im not sure what so im guessing that will make up for the lower power of the e99 turbo and injectors. besides the injectors being louder and a lil less power, will an e99 have any more problems than a 99.5-03? all i really care about is reliablity i dont tow or anything.

hello i had a question that maybe some one could answer for me. i have a 99 250 super duty and it has just started to push white smoke out every once in a wail and when i stop it pushes out as well. i was just woulndering if anyone new what it could possible be or if it is a sign that my turbo is getting ready to go out???? thanks
