Some sort of glow plug system issues.
I will start by saying, I have spent quite a while searching away on here, but to no avail (the search function on vbulletin forums isnt that great) Either way, I will start with anything I know, tests I have performed and see if anyone has any thoughts.
Truck is a 2000 f250 with a 7.3 with a 6 speed... 152,xxx miles right now.
The truck refuses to start when its sub 50 out for more then a day... starts no problem if it has been run during the day...let it sit overnight and if it isnt hot.. crank crank crank, no start. white smoke, blah blah. Loves ether(I had to get to work a few times in a hurry) and starts right up. Other then starting issues, it runs perfect, spot on all the time, even runs real nice right after a shot of ether in the cold starts. SO, here is what I have tested.
Just put a new gpr in, works great, clicks on and off and confirmed voltage at the output post/wires with a multimeter. I then disconnected the harness on each valve cover and tested the outer plug(glow plug wires), and ALL of them say infinate resistance. I could beleive all the plugs went bad, it just seems odd to me that NONE of them read anything, all infinate, that led me to beleive more that I am testing it incorrectly..
I was going to poke my multimeter into each of the glow plug wires going into the harness to see if there is power there.. just looking for thoughts before I start taking stuff apart and breaking it.
