transfer case output shaft bearing??

I was wondering, can the bearing on the out put shaft(flange that bolts to the front driveshaft) be replaced with out splitting the transfer case? I see how the flange comesoff then the seal. Theres a large snap ring that holds the bearing in. I dont know if it will come out or not the the case?
any help appreciated..

A search led me to this thread... so here's a blast from the past!

I am wondering the same thing... on my red truck, the front output shaft has some play to it, not leaking at the seal yet, but enough movement that I'm sure it's going bad...

Where do I find an exploded view drawing, and/or parts list and/or step-by-step directions for replacment/repair?

Try this site for an exploded view: Rebuild Kit NP273 Transfer Case Parts Illustration and parts list, Ford & Dodge! - Drivetrain.com

Not sure if you have the NP273 (electronically shifted) or NP271 (manually shifted), but I'm sure they have views of both. I provided a link for the 273.
