hi i just bought a 2000 f250 powerstroke 6speed 4x4 im trying to figure out what transmission fluid to use i want to drain it and refill but ive read conflicting storys on what to use ive read to use mercon not mercon V
but then ive also read to use merconV i was also wondering what synthetic lube to use

im kind of worried about the tranny it has a low rpm growl in 1st and 2nd not sure if this is normal or not ? its only from idle till i gain a few rpms

Check this out: 06-26-1***MERCON ATF IS BEING REPLACED BY MERCON V AS A SERVICE FLUID FOR SOME MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS

ISSUE:

MERCON® Automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON® V as the service fluid for manual transmissions originally requiring MERCON®.
ACTION:

Beginning immediately all manual transmission applications requiring MERCON® can now be serviced using MERCON® V or MERCON® Automatic Transmission Fluid or dual usage fluids labeled MERCON® / MERCON® V. After July 1, 2007, MERCON® Automatic Transmission Fluid will no longer be manufactured, therefore, availability of this fluid will continue until remaining inventory has been depleted.
