What does this #8 "cackle" sound like...
I recently purchased an 03 with a 7.3 and about 130k on it. Truck is in good shape, and I feel like I got a good deal on it.
Anyway, It sometimes has a noise to it like a gas motor that is pinging. The sound goes away if coasting with the TC locked (injectors 'off'). The noise seems to come from right in front of my knees. Is this the #8 'cackle' that I have read about, or do I have other problems? This is my first 7.3 and so I'm still trying to figure out what is 'normal'. The noise gets more pronounced with the tuner on anything hotter than stock. Thanks for the input. Also, is this something that the rifraff regulated return would fix/reduce? |

could be the cackle. iirc the regualted return wouldnt help much, the starvation is in the oil. the HPX Crossover is what some people say helps. can anyone with one chime in?

HPX made a difference for me and my wife noticed it without being told that I did anything to the truck
