front axle seals in 4wd diff??

The front seals that seal all the gear oil in the front diff, are they put in thru the outside of the axle tubes? Or do they get installed from the inside when the diff is taken apart? If its the outside and thru the tubes, what do the tools look like? where can you get them? Must be a long tool?

The chunk has to come out, they install from the inside.
