Not a problem. But first thing i would do is change out all fluids. Coolant, Oil, Tranny and both diff's if it has been sitting that long. Also check the belt. But you should be good to go

Well the cat's out of the bag! I just called to put a deposit on the truck when he told me it a was salvaged title. I talked to his son, who didnt know a whole lot about it, but said it was a rollover in 02', and had a new cab installed. The replacement cab has the XLT badging, but the original truck was a lariet. What is the difference between those two trim levels? Anyone have further advice? I backed out waiting for opinions of your community. Thanks again guys

Well that changes some things 18 g's is high for a salvage title IMO even with that low of miles

In that case. I would take it to a good body/frame shop. Have them look it over real well. If it had a new cab put on, all of that should be good to go. But, I would be worried about the frame. Make sure everything is lining up right and all of that good stuff. If its not, you can get early wear on stuff that should last a long time. If that is good, offer 16.5 since it is a salvage title and go from there. Prolly still be a good truck.

Yeah, thats kinda what I was thinking as a starting ground. I will be using the truck to haul a couple of jeeps to colorado, so I need to make sure everything is straight, and has structural integrity.

Anyone know any good frame shops in the St. Cloud area? The owner claims it was a "prior salvage" meaning that it passed some inspection....I dont know anything about it. Does that mean the frame has been tested? How thorough are the inspections?

Crap That changes everything. Be suspicious. A salvage title probably means that there was a whole lot more damage than just the bed.

Well my bank got back to me, and they are only willing to finance 17k for the truck, so I guess that will be my starting point. I have an appointment for a frame inspection at a local shop on Saturday.

Does anyone know what an acceptable "deviance" from a stock frame is? From what I understand, they use lasers, and sonar to verify the frame location, and compare that with a factory specs.

Oh yeah, Oasis is clean only thing on it was a problem with Dash lights which turned out to be blown fuse and bad clock spring in the steering wheel....
