Good deal 99 cc sb 4x4 8,500??
Been looking into buying my first diesel for a while now and found one i really like. Its a white 99 crew cab short bed lariet 4x4. all options, looks really clean and well cared for, its a one owner, has 180,000 miles. new batteries, and tires. overall a real good looker and the guy says perfect runner. only real problem is one small spot of rust over one wheelwell. what does everyone think of the price and what all should i be looking for as far as problems and red flags on this truck. any responses appreciated

sounds ok. the rust is worrysome - usually when you can see rust you see the end of it, not the beginning.
also, keep in mind with 180k, it will probably be due for a transmission rebuild in the not-so-distant future. |

Cant comment much about the rust. But price sounds decent , I paid 8500 for mine about 5 months ago with 135,000 miles.

ya the rust was the only thing that really worried me, i know it tends to spread quickly and be expensive to repair. Ill ask the guy how the trans shifts and what kind of shape its in.

I wouldnt ask him anything except for a receipt of when the last time the tranny was rebuilt and by who. I bought my 99 crew cab 4x4 for 5,000$ because the tranny was having problems. I figured it could be simple or not but worse case was 1600$ for a new tranny with TC.

I just bought my E99 4x4 CC SB with 154,000 miles and paid 9,000 for it.
I think it depends on where your at here in the denver area 9000 was cheap there was one on craigslist same truck with 230,000 miles they were asking 13,000 for it. |

I live in SOCAL and its the same thing. Cheapest I found was 6500$ and that thing was a farm truck and beat to crap. I got really lucky on my truck because the guy had just bought an F450 because my F350's tranny stopped working and he needed to tow a cigarette boat 1000 miles that weekend. He said the dealership wanted to give him 5000$ so thats what his price was and I bought it. Im getting a new tranny on saturday. |
