I bought an aftermarket 05 grille(looks identical to a stock Ford one) for $150 though a buddy that works at a body shop. I thought at first I'd got in over my head because it requires a LOT of measuring and cutting. Basically you've gotta cut 1.5" off the bottom of the grille right though the middle of the chrome. Anyway I used an air powered cut off wheel and made my initial cut then when back with the scotchbrite discs to smooth it up the best I could, then I used black wire loom over the bottom edge when I installed it so you couldn't see the rough edge. Looks 10X better than my stock grille did!
Did you get the lights out of an early or late 05? I put the later lights in mine and you have to change the plugs. I put the whole front off of an 06 on my 99. The lights a factory billet grille and bumper. Also you can get a factory takeoff bumper on ebay for around $350 then you don't have to cut the grille. To get the grille to mount up right you also need the newer reinforcement panel.
did you have to cut where the grill starts to turn up?
