Delo 400LE oil
I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this stuff. I just bought 4 gallons @ 8.50 a gallon on sale at wally world with a motorcraft filter. First oil change since I bought this truck so i thought i'd give it a whirl and see how it likes it.

dont get me wrong i think delo is top quality oil as well as rotella ive run rotella for 95,000 miles & decided to switch to delo 400 & when i started the truck it ran rough so i drove about 20 miles thinking it would clear up & it didnt so i dumped it out & put rotella back in & changed filter too. that was an expensive oil change. after i did that it ran fine. same thing happen to a buddy of mine but he was using delo & did an oil chainge with moble delvac 1300 & his did the same thing. maybe we are just sensitive to how our trucks run. but to answer your question delo 400 is good oil. hope this helps ![]() its also factory filled in peterbilt trucks Last edited by chillls; 08-08-2010 at 12:53 PM. |

I have heard delo is good stuff.
Chills, I have noticed a real small "lope" in mine too when I leave the truck idling for a while since I put mobile delvac in it so it must be from the oil |

Well it went in the crankcase about 30 minutes ago after fighting the oil filter for an hour. If you're ever in duncanville Texas you should stop by the quick lube and meet the incredible hulk...he must have been the one that tightened my oil filter down. Maybe they just used a strap wrench on a 1" impact, who knows.
Truck seemed to run better with the delo than with whatever bargain barrel oil they put in it. I guess time will tell |

I've never ran anything other than delo, never had a problem with it.

I have run both and have not noticed any difference. Both are good oils. Some trucks may prefer one oil to another. I do recommend that when changing oil brands that you change the HPOP oil also. Not sure it would make a difference but just make sure I would do it

Same here on the $ switch. Went from Motorcraft to Delo (8.50) Sunday. Yes it does seem to be rougher. Don't understand why.

I ran Delo in two of my 7.3's. I put 385,000 miles on one and have165,000 on another. My parts guy just convinced me to go to Wolfs Head Syn. I was concerned, but I have to say the motor ran smoother and was much quieter. I could not believe it. I am now running it in my 08 F450 6.4. If anybody feels differently about this, I would like to hear it.
