map sensor question 2000 F350

I just bought a 2000 dually. I was running my tube for my boost gauge and the line coming off of the map sensor is hooked up to the driveside of the y where the intercooler pipe hooks too. Previous owner tapped into the y with a fitting for it to hook to. What does this do? Should I hook it back up where it is supposed to go?

Mine is tapped above the AIH on the opposite side of what yours is on the Y pipe, at the time I think I was told it would read off either side......Fred
