noise help

hey guys, i have had my 99 psd for a year now. since i have had it, i have noticed that it is ALOT louder than others. I am talking about engine noise. i have no issues, no vibs or shutters, but after reading and reading i have to belive its the torque converter. i did read somewhere that this is common and it can be left that way, others have said to repalce the tc asap before it blows. so with out spending an arm and a leg where can i get a new tc and should i do this. also anyone know what it would cost to have done (labor).
thanks guys

first be sure (trusted mechanic) its the TQ. most TQ's of any fair quality are nearly $1k, but i know little about where is the best place to get them... hopefulyl someone else will chime in.

but engine noise? does it have any aftermarket stuff that you know of?

well engine noise i belive is the tq. when the truck is just at idle it just seem so much louder than others, and after serching here, people have talked about the tq being noisey. so i am thinking thats what my noise is. i bought the truck stock except the muffler had been deleated. i have since added an edge evo and oddly enough that seemed to quite the engine down a bit. Iam just starting to get concered about the tq. i dont want this thing to go on me or waste the trans. but i did read on the 99's it is just a cosmetic fix (noise) wasnt going to hurt anything not to change it.

well i did it!! had the torque converter replaced, and man what a difference. that was without a doubt the noise prob. now this thing sounds normal, not like a bunch of bolts rattling in a coffee can!!
