it depends, something like the edge CTS can monitor a ton of parameters just by plugging into your OB2 port. personally i like the look of gauges, i have two around my gauge cluster for boost and exhaust temp, i plan on putting 4 on the A-pillar and 4 over the mirror, but thats just me, i like the way it looks, you can get monitors that do it all just a lot cleaner. and if you wanted to get the CTS from edge you can get it with tunes in it so you can increase horse power and monitor vitals

Thanks jdparadee,
i'll be deciding soon.... i know about edge but i won't be using their tunes. can an edge monitor be used in the stock tune with another "chip" tuning the computer??? |

PHP Gryphon is what you're looking for I think.

THANKS
Thanks X JBM X,
![]() I think that is the stuff for the chip but I'm also looking for a monitor, I'm still not sure I want to go with gauges. the cab of the truck looks sooo clean stock and I'm not willing to mess that up unless i have no choice but i can't find a monitor that's worth my time yet..... ![]() Issues |

The Gryphon is a monitoring unit as well IIRC.
I went with the 6 pos chip from PHP because I don't tow, haul, race, or anything of the like, so I don't really need to monitor anything since I'm not stressing anything (I generally drive my truck like a grandma) Like I said, the Gryphon is like the Edge, but just comes from PHP with their tunes on it. Check out PHP's forum if you have a chance, and your questions will be answered. Power Hungry Performance Forum |

so what your saying is i don't need to monitor anything if i'm not pulling towing or racing?
well i never thought of it that way... i like the on-the-fly chips i don't like waiting for the download. a buddy has an "edge evo". it's cool and all i just think i'll be more satisfied with a quick draw chip. i did check out their website and the "FU" really impresses me, pretty sure that's the route i'll be taking. so thanks for the info on the "PHP" but i now want to know if there is a monitor (just a monitor) out there like the edge with no programs or if i can use the "gryphon" or the evo in stock setting and just use it to monitor???? You can get the Gryphon with the FU IIRC.
I'm not saying you don't have to monitor those things, but I figure I'm not beating on the truck, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not saying these gauges are useless by any means, but I feel if it were ABSOLUTELY necessary for us to monitor EGT's, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, etc, under normal driving conditions then Ford would have installed the gauges in the factory. |

cool that's what i'm looking for "GRYPHON and FU" will work together....
and that's a valid point ford should have put these gauges in if they wanted us to pay attention....but I think (and this is just me) I might keep an eye on these things...I dunno just when a vehicle is putting out more than the factory prepared for, I'd wanna see what's happening... just my anal ways.... but thanks again on the info i'll surely be in touch with php |
