From straight pipe to walker BTM...

I'm going to put a muffler on my truck. It's just too loud every once in a while... and my wife drives it more than I do with the kids in there so I guess it's for the best. I would think it will quiet it down in the cab a bit and a lot outside>? Is the BTM mild or does it still have a good turbo whistle and low growl? How about in the cab? Any drone or resonance? I'll have it welded in as far back as they can in the exhaust system.

Thanks!
Scott

I like my Walker BTM. It isn't too loud, although I don't have a lot to compare it to. It doesn't bother me in the cab. If you buy one, get it at Rockauto.com. They have the best price I've found ($46 plus shipping). I think mine cost like $55 shipped (plus they had a $40 rebate when I bought mine - so it will end up costing me only $15 in the end ) At least, if/when they send me the rebate check.

Yeah! I am working nights so I got up to a BTM on the porch and ran off to have it installed. Muffler shop did a good job welding it in, and wow is it quieter. I only notice a little quieter in the cab, but it wasn't super loud anyhow. I just notice that with the windows down it doesn't sound like you are a rolling oil rig when you get on it anymore.
If anyone is worried about the BTM being too loud, go buy a gas truck or a new, quiet diesel.

The BTM is a excellent muffler. Just make sure it was installed correctly, their directional marking are easily missed. I can't tell you how many are installed backwards!!

It sure is, I am super happy with it. I did some drive-by videos to hear what it sounds like and it still has a great sound with some whistle!
I made sure he put that sucker on right, he was a one man show in the muffler shop and there were a lot of drop ins. He was interrupted over and over. He did put it on right and with some amazingly smooth and clean welds... but I did have to remind him about one of the muffler hangers!
Great mod overall.... one problem I can see already is that the loud straight pipe kept me somewhat mild driving in town, but with this thing I can drive like a mad man and not attract the cops!
