Turbo blow back?

I built my custom intake and now I'm hearing a definite hiss under load. If I turn off the overdive and the RPMs go up it goes away. I'm thinking its excess turbo pressure blowing back thru the new intake. But I'm wondering if it could be the wastegate opening early. Not sure if you could hear the wastegate. It's an early '99 so it has the wicked wheel stock. I'm in the process of building my own adjustable wastegate arm (similar to the turbomaster).

Well the intake will let you hear the turbo more, is it not just that?

I wondered the same thing with my truck....it is just the new intake that lets you hear everything more. Nothing to worry about. Everyone says you wont be able to hear the wastegate. If it was the waste gate you would loose boost pressure up high.

I know the wastegate is opening early. I have a secondary spring to help but im still only seeing about 22psi. Disconnecting the red wastegate line the pressure goes up to 25psi.

That is normal boost pressure for a truck like yours.
