Hood Carpet
What does that piece of carpet cloth thing do under the hood? Mines ripping and falling apart and i want to just remove it. Does it serve any real purpose? Can you remove it?
Thanks! |

It's just insulation, won't hurt to remove it but you may notice slightly more noise.

Sound insulation or heat insulation during the winter?

If you take it off, your paint under hood might peel.

From the heat?

Yeah. I don't know how heat resistant it is.
And I don't want to find out

you should be fine, some vehicles have the carpet crap and some don't. I took mine off my 96 cobra about 5 years ago with no issues and still looks like the day I painted it under there. More for just sound insulation than anything else.

So it'll make the idle a little louder without it?

Yes, but you may not even notice it.
