Fuel Tank Size?

Hey guy's what's your fuel tank size?
I saw someone say on here that there 1999 7.3 has a 29 gallon tank.... I cant fill my tank up no where near that.

I have a 1999 Diesel F250 Short Bed, and I fill my tank up when it gets into the last Quarter and that says around 16 to 17 gallon's....What’s up with that?

Oh and just to know and hope to never have to go threw, what’s it like if your run out of diesel? I heard there’s alot more you have to do then just fill it back up. Thanks

I think mine is a 26. Not really sure though, I have a 99 also.

I think the short beds are 29
the long beds are 38
and the cab & chassis are 40
And the OBS is front 19 back 18

I think the last time i filled up it was 176 gallons.

Oh wait 140 of that was in the aux tank in the back of the truck.

you got it. it's the distance between the cab and the rear axle.

See i get no where near that.... I have a built in 5th wheel, would that come as a option and a smaller tank?

Do you fill till you see fluid, or till it clicks. Fill till it is all fluid and no foam and see what happens.

You have to account for foam, next time you fill up, let the foam settle for a couple minutes, you can usually get a couple more gallons in.

I always fill mine to the very top.

Technically, the tank is 29 gallons, but I've put over 31 in it at one time before!!! I think I might have been pushing my luck, what do you guys think??

Ya I have to watch it when I fill up because if I just let it go, the foam hits the auto shut off too late and shoots a nice half of cup a diesel down my truck.

But when I feel it up it's only like 18 gallons, so I figure I got a 20 gallon tank because I don't go completely on empty because of what i heard.
