Hidden chip or ECU program
Is there anywhere to hide a chip in these trucks (or where should I look)? Any way to identify if the ECU might have been reprogrammed?

A chip could be hidden also though if the installer didnt cut the back of the pcm case, the only way to find out would be to remove the pcm from its case and look. A tell tale sign of a chip would be if the pcm contacts have been cleaned off, they come from the factory with a sillicone layer that must be removed for a chip to make contact.
A programmer however would be invisible and impossible to detect if it was previously on there and removed. If its still programmed the only way to really tell would be to drive an identical stock truck and if yours is much more powerful or if yours will smoke when you stomp on it it might have a program in it. |

its not an old man truck..it would have good throttle response if it were chipped..less turbo lag...get in your truck..ROMP on it to the floor..does it blow black..yes in big amounts you have a chipped truck.. now if u have a weak hpop..it may not blow at all..i can roll coal on the 40 tow setting..
to remove the comp if you want to look at it..just removed the screw under the hood, and the 2 under the dash..pop her out and remove the 2 other screws and the pcm will fall out.. |

Probably don't get enough black smoke to be chipped.
