i need just a few more ponies

first off an intro, i am not new to diesels i work on otr trucks for a living, i drive a 97 sc lb psd with a d66, stage 2's, ts 6 pos, tymar, exaust, idm, fuel system, southbend con oef. i bought this truck like this from a coworker. i have done a couple of repairs so far on it. i have been creeping around on here for about 6 months but now i got a few questions.

my old man has a 2000 cc sb psd, he uses it as it was designed to do thats it, pull his camper, haul stuff, and the 4x4 in the winter if nessary THATS IT he very rarly drives it just because. and lets be blunt he's a tight a$$ with money. but since i reacenty purchaced mine with said mods and getting better milage than he ever dreamed of i have convinced him to do a few mods

biggest and most important is reliabilty he wants 300000 with out major problems especialy problems with/caused by mods, so far he has a 4" turbo back exaust with muffler, and a K&N stock replacement

what i am after is some more power to pull the camper, better economy when not towing, and strong info to get ride of the k&n i know its junk but i cant convince him, and i would like info on a very light chip/tune, with/without gauges what would be the best route to go, what about the tranny.

sorry for the long post i just wana get as much info out there as possible up front thanks

I would deff ditch the k&n. do the diy tymar as you have in the '97
Go with a custom tuned chip. Gauges. for the tranny, slap a big cooler on there, and a valve body from bts, or John Wood

Who tuned your '97?

tymay/DIY intake, ditch the K&N. the killer of a well maintained motor with a K&N will likely be dusting.

i agree, DIY Intake, Chip, Guages.
