How much "on the fly" can you switch a TW?

Can you switch a TW "on the fly" or must you be still?

I changed mine today from daily to tow while entering the highway from an on ramp in order to beat the traffic. It worked but is this something I shouldn't do???

I don't want to ruin it or my truck but I thought it could be changed on the fly. If so, how slow should I be traveling when I switch the knob?

I have...high idle, daily, tow, heavy tow, street, extreme.

I usually stay in daily since I son'e have guages yet.

Thanks in advance.

Can switch when your foot is off the peddle. Not recommended to switch
when under power....

So if you are going 60, just let off the fuel, switch, and get back on the peddle..
