Long crank time suggestions?

My 03 7.3 has a longer than normal crank time, The batteries are fine i tested them with a battery tester they were good, the engine turns over strong, the truck runs fine when started but its not the glow plug beacuse i can run the truck for a long time then shut it off and then fire it up 3 seconds later and it still has a long crank time. Can it be the CPS that ford had a recall on? Any other ideas would be great

I dont doubt that they do but it seems like the truck is not holding its fuel prime it seems like the starter is cranking strong but it makes a different sound than our other 7.3, the other truck cranks over smooth and starts quicker this one starts but its got a napa rebuild and sounds like crap.

I assume youve changed the fuel filter recently? have you checked your fuel pressure?

dont get a napa starter, here is what we reccomend, i just put on it and just bump the key to start.

yes I have changed my fuel filter, its a baldwin. And no I have not checked my fuel pressure, its like the fuel pressure is bleeding off once the truck is shut off. And the starter is a napa that came with the truck when i bought it. But it doesnt sound like a stock ford starter, it sounds ruff but the engine seems to be turning over strong but you never know

what's a CPS? right now, we just put in a flashed PCM due to my other one, chipped by previous owner, "burned up". lost 250 RPMs when idling, idled home. killed truck. replaced fuel filter. no start but cranks. hard code verified PCM is bad order, chipped area wreaked of burnt wires. replaced PCM, cranks fine. only fires up when hand primed. won't prime while cranking. could it be a bad check valve or what?
