HELP truck wont start
Ok heres my problem. Earlier this week, I went to start my truck, turned the key and let it beep for the glow plugs and turned the key all the way to start it. When you get to where its supposed to turn over, nothing happened. I ended up hitting the shifter and it started fine. A few days passed and today at the movies it did the same thing. I turned it and nothing happened and I tried a few times and it came on, then finally at sonic it would not start. I moved the shifter all around, the linkage on the tranny and I took the chip out and put all the PCM back together. I'm lost and I dont have transportation to school to take a final exam tomorrow. I know this has got to be something stupid. Help me out

I'm wanting to hear what it is.
It reminds me of how if you don't put it in park and you try to start it. If it's not in P it won't let you try to start.. And you hitting the shifter and getting it to start sounds to me like you've got a short in there somewhere. |

Didnt sleep much last night waiting for AZ to open. I think I've concluded its a fuse, a 30a square one, it was popped and I looked up what it is and it apparently goes to the started solenoid. I'll change that, and see what happens. If not I'm gonna bridge the posts on the solenoid and see if thatll at least start it. My new question would be why did the fuse pop

Take all the wires off the starter relay thing on the passenger side.... It looks just like the glow plug relay exept its on the outside of the inner fender well. If it fails to start again just have someone stick a screw driver from the bottom bolt to the top of that relay and it will start right up.
I had the same problem and my friend came over and just undid the relay and cleaned the wires, put dielectrode grease on the wire ends and put it together. Works great now and I just keep a screw driver in the center counsel if it happens again. |

Wicky the solenoid on my 03 is down under the passenger side. I found the problem today, one of the connectors was broken to the solenoid and the stiffness of the wire let it touch sometimes but not other times. Glad I got it figured out.
