96 vs. 03 7.3L

Ok, I have a 2003 7.3L CC 4x4 with 6637 intake, 4 to 5 inch stright pipe, 35x12.50 tires. Egt's are fine and boost reaches 16 psi when I get on it. Transmission doesn't seem to have any issues, new fuel filter, and fresh oil change. Should my Brother's 96 ext cab 4x4 stock with 33 x 12.50" tires be able to run with my truck? I seem to be lacking power. I have never heard another 7.3 with the stright pipe and it seems to be fluttery sounding (don't really know how to describe). I don't know if it runs fine or I just expect too much without a chip. The MPG seem to be fine at around 14-15 in city. Any info is appricated.

I do know without my chip in my 97 it is SLLLLLLOOOW. I do know that you should have 35 more h.p. and almost 100 more ft lbs of torque too but I don't know how much you weigh in comparison though. I know my 03 6.0 was a heavy SOB. Hope that helps some

There's not much power increase from hte 96 to the 03 7.3L. But there's more weight on hte 03. My dad has a 96 reg cab LB 2wd and it's pretty quick all stock(except it's on WVO). Mine was pretty slow before tuning. Slower than I expected it to be when I bought it. It just felt really heavy.

yeah that too. Well I mean I only speak for myself here but I carry a fully loaded tool box in my truck that wouldn't help me if I were in a race. I didnt look up the specific years weight but you did say his was a super cab are they both 250s or 350s or what?

Sorry, They are both 250's.
I expected a little more. I had a Duramax eat me for lunch yesterday. I ordered a TS ship (on back order) I will get it tunned when I get some more $$$.

Any knowledge on the sound of a stright pipe?

my 97 is straight piped it sounds awesome but I dont really understand the fluttering sounds any other ways to describe it? and flutters when your under WOT or all the time?
