Front door rattle
hey all, my drivers side door rattles when I have the window down...a lot... it rattles a little bit when driving over small bumps with the window up too.
I grabbed the window frame while driving today to make sure it wasn't just the window inside the door bouncing..It was the whole door shaking. The other 3 doors don't do this. s far as I know the truck has not been in an accident. The bolts on the hinges appear to be tight. Any ideas on how to tighten up this door so it stops shaking on ever little small bump on the road? Its annoying. Oh and its a 2002 F-350 CC dually |

I would try taking the door panel off first and seeing what is loose in the door. One screw in the door light and the panel lifts off by lifting the panel and unplugging the wires. Remove the sticky insulation cover and you can see the guts of the door and the window assembly.

my 03 did this, even at 43k miles. i ended up doing the door seal mod- running 3/8" latex rubber tubing though the hollow portion of the rubber door seals. tightened up the door and helped with the wind noise. if i remember right, the door striker or latch mechanism isnt adjustable.

Hmmm..I will check the inside of the hinges, and if those were not loose, then I will try the hose trick...

my pass doors rattle when driving down the county roads here. the door itself is sound. im wondering if it is just rattleing on the lock somehow.

One of my doors rattles too. I would like some feedback on how to fix it as well.

I might try the tubing weatherstrip mod to see if that tightens the door up enough to cure the rattle. I'm not beyond replacing the latch itself if it will cure the rattle. It bothers the cr@p out of me for my truck to sound like a piece of sh!t. |

sorry, i wasnt paying attention to the post. you dont have to cut any weather stripping. the seal comes together along the bottom. pull the stripping off and lay it flat. then find a way to pull some latex rubber tubing through. you will need 50ft of 3/8" tubing. i tried 5/16" but the front drivers door still rattles a little over heavy bumps.
