How do i tell my 7.3 2002 has forged rods or not

I dont think it will but you can pop off some inspection cover, well plug and see. I forget where it is at exactly but the chances of an 02 having them are extremely rare

IIRC only the 99 and 00 model years had the forged rods

YOU CAN ALSO CHECK THE CASTING NUMBER ON THE BLOCK AND THAT SHOULD TELL YOU BUT I BELIEVE THE LATER MODEL 7.3 HAD THE POWERED METAL RODS IN IT

early 99-early/mid 01 trucks had forged rods. after that they had powdered . so 99% chance you have PM rods

WRONG... Some 2001 and some 2002 had forged rods just depends there was a point where they went to PMR's and back to forged then back to PMR's so it depends on the build

WRONG... Over on PSN we have proved that this isnt always correct.

the ONLY way to know for sure is to pull the inspection plug and look.

I would say you have PMR's but it don't hurt to look. Good Luck

Yea it was hit and miss on the 01 and 02 trucks so it's possible but not likely. I still need to get off my lazy azz and check mine also
