2000 Excursion GEM controller

I recently purchased this 2000 7.3 diesel Excursion unit from a private seller. The individual "forgot" to tell me about the multiple systems that weren't functioning..including the fact that the GEM controller had been replaced by one from a salvage yard. This was an expensive find, in that it took a private garage tech and a FORD tech to discover why the 4x4 system wouldn't activate. The "discovery' revealed the the replacement GEM was likely from a 4x2 unit...which is why it wouldn't activate the 4x4. Here's the REAL problem. Ford has declared this integral electrical part "OBSOLETE." No back stock available, no after market available leaving only the salvage yard option. I have exhausted all of the options that FOMOCO gave me. Have put out multiple national salvage yard searches. I'm sick of hearing "I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do." Any suggestions from the brethren? Since I need a 4x4 this is a two ton paperweight to me.

First of all, Welcome to the Org.

Have you tried to look for anyone parting out an Ex on Craigslist? Or maybe someone here on the org is parting out a rig that might have what you need.

I wish I could help you more, but I have no Idea where else to look if they are obsolete and the salvage yards don't have any either.
