99 f-250 steering box problem

Well I have alot of slack in my steering so I jumped under it the other day and check tie rods and all of that good stuff. It all looks good, it seems like all of the slack is in the steering box so what do I do??? Is there a way to tighten the box up or what?????

Thanks

Brandon

Yes you can. On top of the gear box, there is a stud with a nut on it. Loosen the nut and turn the stud in. I used a vice grip to turn it but my mechanic says an allen wrench should fit. I turned mine in two turns and it helped a bunch. If you tighten it too much the steering wheel doesn't return to center on its own after you turn a corner.
Its easy to do, just awkward to get to it.

Thanks Devo so you can get to it inside of the truck huh??? Cool I will have to get on that then, because it is way off and the truck floats all over the road.
