Dash speedo and gauges!
Hey guys, I'm jumpin' head first into the diesel world. Just bought a 2000 250, 6 speed extended cab short box with 148,000 miles and I'm the SECOND owner! I drove it 360 miles back and got a hand calculated 18.9 mpg's!
The truck has a few minor issues I'm trying to figure out, one of them is the speedometer. Its broke but the rest of the gauges still work, the dealership i bought it from is sending me a new gauge cluster to put in. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced theirs before and if so does anyone have any tips or 'How To's?' On a side note, right now its factory but i ordered all new fluids from AmsOil. 4 inch mbrp exhaust and an AmsOil filter for a DIY intake system. Puttin everything in this weekend. Thanks for the help |

Sounds sweet.
I have no idea about the gauge cluster. I'm sure once everything is apart you can figure it out. Have fun! |

Usually when the speedo fails it is the rear VSS. It sits on top of the rear diff. IIRC a 10mm bolt holds it in place. They are cheap, I would try swapping a new VSS in before tearing the dash apart. Haven't heard of to many gauge clusters going bad. So I assume the odometer doesn't woirk either, so how do you know how many miles the truck has on it? Good luck
