Allright where is the Oil going?
I got this new to me 250 a couple of months ago. It had a oil leak which I got fixed HPOP o-rings. Now I have been driving it for a little while I put about 800 miles on the truck no heavy towing or anything and I am a quart low. The truck does not smoke at start up or anytime. Where could the oil be going? Truck has 123,000 miles on it. I topped it off and will be putting about 1000 miles on it this week so I will get a good judge on the useage. Anybody know where to start I know its not leaking on my driveway.
Thanks |

It may be burning the oil, it's hard to see it in the exhaust ,lots of the times it the o-rings on the injectors the oil leaks into the fuil rail .

is your oil going into your coolant? if so could be your oil cooler.

No oil in coolant. If injector o-rings are leaking oil does this cause any other symptoms?

1st thing, how are you checking your oil? ford's procedure is to check it warm. so if you are checking it cold and then filling it up to the top hatch mark, it is over full and the motor will consume it. i had forgotten this, and it took me a while to figure out where my oil was going..... now, i check my oil on a cold motor and if it is halfway between the marks, its good. and no more oil consumption.....

I'll bow to a Tech on this one. The only experience with this situation I found my oil REAL quick. It was in my coolant......all of it

Yes I checked it while it was warm yesterday but it had been sitting for like 10min so all the oil had drained back to the pan. I toped it off then with 1.5 qts. Then this morning before I took started it I checked it cold and it was still right at the top of the hash marks. I am wondering I had the dipstick and o-ring replaced going into the pan and they changed the oil then too if the new dipstick tube is longer. I asked the guy who did the work for me and he said its a dipstick tube from ford. i am going to run it this week hopefully I can put on 750 miles or so and get a good read on usage.
