Service Records

How many of you keep service records on your truck.

I bought my truck from my companies bank when we went out of business and they had kept service records since the beginning of 05. No receipts since everything was in house and AP kept the receipts.

I am continuing on with service records trying to keep them detailed and with receipts.

I have about 5,000 work order forms the I snagged from work since we werent using them anymore and I use those.

Any harm with no receipts im sure something is better than nothing, but for some things like oil filters and fuel filters I just took off the shelves at work so no receipts.

What do you guys do. How detailed etc.

Blackstone keeps track of all the oil changes, and I keep any receipts for parts which aren't common like an air filter or for any service done, like tire balancing.

Eh, my oil gets changed maybe twice a year, so the $20 is worth it.

Nah I do all the work myself, and I don't keep the receipts. With the mileage I put on mine I probably average at least 6 or 7 oil changes a year[thats on an every 6k mile rate], and 2 or 3 fuel filters a year, and a trans filter/flush/coolant flush/differentials yearly. Too much to keep track of for me.

I keep all of the important receipts, and I keep a detailed book in the glove box with the date and mileage and description of what was done. If there are parts involved, the part numbers are included (sometimes the price and where I obtained them) . If it is a a service that will be repeated, the mileage of when it is due again added to the comments.
