Chameleon coolant?

The coolant in my truck's plastic tank has been "Gold" since I bought
it new, in 2002. Recently, I had the truck in to the dealer to fix an
oil leak, which turned out to be an easy fix. They also "topped off"
the coolant which, I'll admit, was a little low. That was about 1500
miles ago (the truck has about 54,000 miles on it), and now the coolant
appears green/blue-green. Should I be worried about this? The "Gold"
coolant is supposed to last 100,000 miles, but I'm thinking about
having the system flushed and refilled with the "Gold" coolant, just to
be safe. What do y'all recommend? Should I have an analysis done of
the coolant before having it changed?

I would check with the dealer first and see what they put in your truck. Sure sounds like they put the wrong stuff in it to me. I would have them flush and fill it for free if they screwed up just my 2 cents.

The dealer stood behind their work and fixed their error. They drained and flushed my cooling system and refilled it with gold coolant. At first, one service writer tried to tell me that the coolant they use "is compatible with everything Ford uses." I explained the differences (that I'm aware of) between gold and green coolant. While I was talking to the first service writer, another one stepped out and talked to the service manager. That service writer came back and told me that, since they had caused the problem they would correct it. I was surprised, but I picked my truck up, today, and they had done what they promised to do! For your info, that was Leesville Ford in Leesville, LA.

Good news! It's refreshing to see when service providers stand behind their work and fix their boo-boo's.
