First tank of bio-diesel

Finally did it. After reading about the subject and wrining my fists I took the plunge. We are just getting our first B20 pumps in San Antonio this week so it was a bit hard to find. I decided to buy B100 from a local bio-diesel plant and make my own mix. Added 15 gallons of bio-diesel to 27 gallons of ULSD for about an approximate 34% blend.

I have recently replaced my fuel pump, sending unit and fuel filter so I'm hoping it will be okay to start this high. Whatever I guess since I already did it.

My truck had 79k on it when I filled it up with B100. It plugged the filter once after the second tank of it, and never had a problem after that. Since then I have used about 375 gallons, and only noticed a minor decrease in economy. As long as you use an additive such as power service with petroleum diesel before you switch to Bio, there won't be much tar in the tank to plug your filter. Since most of you guys run additives, you have nothing to worry about. B100 is the way to go in south Texas, because we never have the extreme low temps to worry about.

There is a place here in Austin the makes B20 and B100, Pretty cheep if i remember right..

I got it from Alamo Bio Diesel. Found them on Biodiesel Locations | OVER 1200 VERIFIED LOCATIONS IN THE US

Also Mid Tex Oil Company in New Braunfels has set up 4 pumps in SA with B20. They are the Petro Panty locations.
