California Diesel Smogcheck

Just curious if anybody else has been through a Diesel smog check in CA? Thank you CARB for ram rodding this law into effect. My registration is due in May on my 02. I don't think she will have any problems, but she does has a Banks Monster exhaust system. I am hearing that modification may now be illegal. Anyone else having issues?

If your truck was not manufactured with a cat, then the Banks Monster Exhaust (turbo back) will not be a problem. If the vehicle had a cat, then the cat must be installed in order to pass the silly test. You should have a label on the hood that indicates whether or not a cat was present.

Where is the label? I looked all over on my 97 and don't see anything.

can't say for sure where the label is on the 97's, but on the 2000 models it is under the hood, on the passenger side, near the front.

It is a 416 that was imported from Danish military. I sold it a while back to a farmer in WI.

I hope to retire in a few yrs and then buy another one. I just didn't have the time to spend to play with it, nor the proper setup to work on it had that become necessary. A large shop (located in a state other then California) with am A frame hoist is must if you have a Mog.
