No foglights with running lights?

All,

The fogs are supposed to work with the running lights correct? I'm pretty sure this worked when I got the truck, but now it doesn't. Just wondering if this is a common issue or not and if someone has an idea of what I need to look at. The fogs do work with the lights on, so I'm assuming it might be something in the light switch.

no the foglights are not supposed to work with the parking lights. you have to do the "ridin dirty mod"

pull out your headlight switch
there's a lock knob where you can pull the switch out in the HEADLIGHT position
trim that back so you can pull it out with the parking lights on.

it's really easy.

On the later model Superdutys the fogs can be turned on with just the parking lights (mine do), but the earlier models won't let you pull the switch out until it is in the headlight position.
So it sounds like you need to do a little trimming on your switch to make it work.

Yeah my 06 lights come on with just the running lights ...

on my 02' the switch will pull out in the park light position. I pulled my switch box out and there is a yellow only wire(fog lamp supply) and a dark brown wire (park lamp supply). This is only if you want to use a toggle switch. Use an inline slpice and run a wire from the dark brown wire to the power (line) side of the switch. Use another splice and run a wire from the yellow only wire to the accessory (load) side of the switch. With this being done you can turn your park lamps on, turn your fogs on/off, turn your headlamps on with your fogs on/off, and your brights with your fogs on/off! Don't be alarmed if you try this and they don't work...Your switch must be on for this to work!

Thanks guys for the help. My switch does pull out but the fogs don't work so I don't know if the 02s normally work this way or if the switch was modded to allow this to work. I coulda sworn this worked before...

I did pull out the switch to take a look today. Nothing has been sliced in the back so I'll give Carolinaboy's suggestion a try when I get home.

mine was the same way...somewhere along the 02-03 assembly line the decided that we wanted the fogs to work with the marker lights. good luck man!
